Samantha has a Bachelor of Social Sciences (Community Welfare) and a Bachelor Laws from Newcastle University. She also completed her Diploma of Legal Practice at Newcastle University.
Samantha worked in the Community Services Sector for over 10 years working in Mental Health, Child Protection, Guardianship, Conflict Resolution and Policy Development. She subsequently returned to university to study the law. During her post-graduate Practical Legal Training, she worked mainly in Criminal Law, completing placements with the Children’s Criminal Specialist and the Public Defender’s Office. This very practical experience has provided her with a wide knowledge base relating to youth justice and criminality.
After graduating, Samantha worked in the Juvenile Justice sector for three years and is certified as a Youth Justice Conference Convener. She has completed a Mediator Training and Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner course with the College of Law and anticipates becoming a fully accredited mediator and FDR Practitioner before the end of 2018. She has also set herself the goal of becoming an accredited Child Law specialist as soon as possible.
Samantha is Newcastle ‘born and bred’. She enjoys the local beaches and relishes the Newcastle coastal way of life. Samantha is also a mum of three children who are the focus of her life outside of the law. In her downtime, she can usually be found either at the beach, on a soccer field, or watching a movie with her family.
Being a mum has also given her legal expertise in Youth Justice a special focus and dedication that she brings to every legal matter that she handles. Every child’s welfare is important to Samantha as she strives to get the best outcome for all her juvenile clients. She also brings this same caring dedication to every client she sees, regardless of their age or legal issue.
