Service transparency

How Go To Court Works

There are two distinct services: free general legal information from Jen, and matter-specific legal advice from a qualified lawyer through a paid consultation.

Last updated 27 August 2026

1. Call for general information

Call 1800 577 015 at any time. Jen, Go To Court's AI information assistant, answers the hotline and can explain general legal concepts and common next steps. Jen is not a lawyer and does not provide legal advice about your particular matter.

2. Request a lawyer consultation

If you need advice about your circumstances, you can request a 60-minute consultation with a qualified Australian lawyer for $295 AUD. Phone, video and in-person requests are available. A request is subject to lawyer suitability and availability for the location, matter and requested time.

3. Tell us what you need

The booking form asks for the area of law, state, preferred consultation format, urgency, contact details and a short description. This helps the service assess whether a suitable lawyer is available. Do not use the form for an emergency or to meet a court deadline without also contacting the relevant authority or a lawyer directly.

What the hotline is not

The hotline is not a substitute for a lawyer-client consultation, emergency services, Legal Aid or a community legal centre. For official free-assistance routes, see our legal advice and assistance guide.
