Go To Court Lawyers Shortlisted in Australian Law Awards

Go To Court Lawyers has been shortlisted in two categories in the Australian legal industry’s most prestigious awards. GTC has been named a finalist in both the Innovator of the Year Award and the NewLaw Firm of the Year Award categories of the 2018 Australian Law Awards, hosted by Lawyers Weekly.

The 18th annual Australian Law Awards, in partnership with UNSW Law, recognises the contribution of Australia’s top lawyers and legal firms across 33 categories. Winners in the individual categories will also be shortlisted for the prestigious Lawyers Weekly Excellence Award.

Founded in 2009, Go To Court Lawyers with its innovative online-based model of legal services and its 7-day free legal hotline offers legal advice and representation to the whole of Australia, regardless of geographical location. GTC has offices in Queensland, Western Australia, Victoria and New South Wales and specialises in Family, Civil and Criminal Law. It is an equal opportunity employer that offers flexible working arrangements to staff and utilises an online file system suited to the mobile world.

Innovator of the Year Award

The Innovator of the Year Award recognises an Australian law firm which has been innovative in its delivery of legal services and in its use of technology. Go To Court Lawyers prides itself on its comprehensive legal website and versatile approach to legal service delivery designed to suit the modern Australian client. The website allows clients to book an appointment with a lawyer online and to elect to conduct the meeting in person, over the phone or by video link. It offers over 2,000 pages of information about legal issues and other features, such as the option for clients to give their lawyer a rating out of five, to ensure ongoing client satisfaction.

The firm also operates a seven-day legal advice hotline, where clients from any location in Australia can contact a lawyer for an immediate obligation-free assessment of their situation. Clients can be referred to a suitably qualified lawyer in their area if they so desire.

Go To Court utilises an online file system, which its staff can access using iPads and laptops so that casework can be completed at home or at court and securely transmitted back to the firm.

NewLaw Firm of the Year

The NewLaw Firm of the Year Award recognises a law firm with a new approach to legal service delivery. Founded in 2009, Go To Court has taken advantage of the rise of mobile device technology to develop a model of legal service delivery suited to the mobile world. The bulk of GTC clients connect with the firm online via its website and the options of seeing a lawyer via video conference or over the phone mean that legal assistance is available whatever a person’s geographical location.

Go To Court Lawyers operates a free seven-day legal advice hotline. This means that urgent legal advice is available to all Australian wherever they are and whatever their availability. The Hotline provides flexible work arrangements to our solicitors, allowing them to fulfill their obligations as parents and carers and have a healthy work/life balance.

The firm has regular reviews of its staff performance, providing opportunities for team members to suggest improvements to the firm’s service delivery and to receive reward and recognition for solid performance. These reviews are conducted in line with the firm’s commitment to the Law Council of Australia’s  Diversity and Equality Charter.

“Go To Court Lawyers is all about innovation, delivering legal services in a new way and being adaptive to the mobile, digital world,” said Legal Practice Director Michelle Makela. ‘Our commitment to achieving good outcomes for our clients and satisfying professional careers for our staff drives us to continue to innovate.”

The winners of the Australian Law Awards will be announced on Friday, 31 August 2018.
